Innosano is an Australian technology company in the Innomente group. We build and manage critical operational infrastructure that connects people, organisations, providers and communities in real time across industries where health, safety and compliance cannot be compromised.
What we do
Across global sport, mining and heavy industry, people, health information, providers and operational systems are often fragmented. Organisations are left trying to establish who is connected, who is cleared, what is current and whether the evidence can be trusted.
GroundCtrl brings those relationships into one connected operational environment. Digital Passports connect individuals through verified relationships: employees and contractors with employers, fans with clubs and sponsors, fans with each other, and people with providers and regulators. Verified identity, controlled access and auditable records ensure each participant sees only what their role permits.
Our capabilities
- GroundCtrl Sport, critical operational infrastructure connecting club operations, athletes, staff, players, coaches, medical providers, fans, service providers, sponsors and partners in real time, including direct digital relationships between fans and their club, fans and sponsors, and fans with each other.
- GroundCtrl Mining, critical operational infrastructure connecting employers with employees and contractors, and connecting workers, providers and operational teams across health, safety, training, compliance and risk.
- Workplace Drug Testing covering bookings, consent, chain of custody, screening and confirmation results, Medical Review Officer review and compliance reporting.
- Sample Collection and Management, supporting the collection, identification, handling, movement, tracking, testing and management of samples and the information associated with those activities.
- Digital Passports, secure real time digital identities and records that connect individuals with organisations, providers and communities while giving people greater visibility and control over their information.
- Quantum Safe Encryption, a research program developing post quantum cryptographic protection for sensitive occupational health data.
How we work
Research first
Innosano is part of Innomente, founded in 2021 and based at iAccelerate on the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus. The group runs an active research portfolio, including collaborations with Australian universities on quantum safe encryption and on securing artificial intelligence in occupational health. Product decisions start from that research rather than from a feature list.
Security and privacy as engineering constraints
Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Security and privacy are design constraints from the first architectural decision, not features added after the build. We treat the Australian Privacy Principles in the same way. Role based access, audit logging, multi factor authentication, data residency and threat protection are part of the platform foundation, not optional upgrades.
Built with the people who use it
Collectors, occupational physicians, Medical Review Officers, club doctors, physiotherapists, players, club executives, site safety managers and the workers and athletes themselves all touch the same record. Each person has different requirements. We design each view around the job that person is actually doing.
Responsible use of artificial intelligence
AI is part of the operational infrastructure
GroundCtrl can use artificial intelligence to help oversee complex health, safety and compliance environments. AI can identify emerging issues, monitor obligations and expiry points, create workflows, route tasks to the right people, streamline repetitive processes and surface information that may require human attention.
Safety, compliance and privacy
Where AI is used, it strengthens oversight rather than removing accountability. It can help identify potential compliance gaps, unusual activity and emerging security or privacy threats, but decisions that require professional, clinical, employment or regulatory judgement remain subject to the appropriate human authority.
Privacy first and human centred
Our responsible AI approach follows the same principles that shape the rest of Innosano: verified identity, least privilege access, purpose limitation, auditability, data protection and human oversight. AI is given access only to the information required for its defined purpose. Sensitive health information is not treated as unrestricted training material, and the use of AI does not change who is entitled to see a person’s information.
Secure AI by design
AI creates new capabilities and new risks. Innosano therefore treats the security of AI systems as part of the architecture itself. We research and engineer controls to protect models, workflows and connected data against misuse, inappropriate access, manipulation and emerging threats. Security is designed in from the beginning, not added after deployment.
Research led
Our approach builds on the Innomente group research philosophy and the work previously developed through Sample Assist: ethical and responsible AI that is transparent, secure, privacy first and human centred. We work with Australian universities and research partners so that AI capability is grounded in evidence and translated into practical tools that help organisations protect people.
