Quantum Safe Encryption
Health records outlive the cryptography that protects them
Critical operational infrastructure must protect information not only today, but for the lifetime of the record. We are researching post quantum cryptography with Australian universities to understand how sensitive health and operational data can remain protected against future attack.

Status: research and development. This is an active research program, not a released product. It is described here because it shapes how we build everything else.
The challenge
A statutory health surveillance record may need to be retained for the working life of an individual and beyond. Data encrypted today with widely deployed public key algorithms can be captured today and decrypted later, once a sufficiently capable quantum computer exists. For most data that risk is theoretical. For a lifetime occupational health record, the retention period and the threat horizon overlap.
What we are doing
- Developing quantum safe encryption tools to protect sensitive occupational health data, in collaboration with Australian universities.
- Assessing post quantum key establishment and signature schemes against the performance profile of a mobile first health platform.
- Planning migration paths so records encrypted under current schemes can be re-protected without loss of integrity or auditability.
- Feeding findings back into the security architecture of GroundCtrl and Digital Passports.
Why it sits inside Innosano
The Innomente group runs a wider security research program covering secure and responsible artificial intelligence, specialised security monitoring for workforce health systems and long horizon cryptographic protection. This research feeds back into GroundCtrl so that security, privacy and emerging threat protection are designed into the infrastructure rather than added later.
One record, across a change of cryptography
Encrypted today
Current schemes
A statutory health surveillance record is protected with widely deployed public key algorithms.
Retained for decades
The exposure
A record may be retained for the working life of an individual and beyond, so the retention period and the threat horizon overlap.
Re-protected
Migration path
Records encrypted under current schemes are re-protected under a post quantum scheme, without loss of integrity or auditability.
Evidence intact
After migration
The audit trail survives the migration, and the findings feed back into the security architecture of GroundCtrl and Digital Passports.
